There are two main types of fire-rated foams available on the market today, one of which gives a fire rating for the ‘surface spread of flame’ only and one which offers a full ‘penetration seal’ for compartment walls. We are aware that to the layman this means little however to the occupant of a building during a fully developed fire the difference becomes very apparent. As the use of these products tends to be around the perimeter of door frames or sealing services penetrating a compartment wall, this full penetration product is the one to use.
