Finger protection - Safe and sound schools - 4/9/2009

Current legislation requires doorsets to have sound reduction indices of 29dBRw and 35dBRw depending on their application. An appropriate fire door is an excellent acoustic barrier, however the prescribed noise reduction levels can only be achieved if the classroom doorset has suitable acoustic seals arranged continuously around its perimeter and threshold.

Our range of low cost, acoustic perimeter seals are easily fitted to new or existing doors and provide performance levels that far exceed those stipulated in Approved Document E (Resistance to the passage of Sound) and Building Bulletin 93 (BB93 Acoustic Design of Schools).

We acknowledge that children’s safety whilst in your care is of paramount importance. So, in addition to acoustic performance, our perimeter seals offer fully proven, highly effective smoke sealing in the event of fire. Moreover, it is a sad fact that around 30,000 UK school children are injured each year by trapping their fingers in doors. Shockingly 1,500 of these accidents are serious enough to require corrective surgery and in most cases costly litigation.†

Fortunately these distressing accidents can be eliminated.

Our revolutionary finger protection solutions eliminate the potentially dangerous gap between the door and frame on the hinged side. Additional design elements ensure easy, retrofit capability to existing doors providing a robust solution; genuinely fit for purpose in tough school environments.

The Fire Seal Shop's  range of acoustic seals and finger protection products offer simple, cost effective solutions to the problem of transmitted noise and the threat of painful injury.
